When I coached wrestling, our school didn’t have a feeder program, that meant that the kids that came to wrestle for me, were for most part stepping on the mat for the first time their freshman year. So our philosophy was to out work everyone else. We taught basic maneuvers that worked, and as a team we were physically in the best shape of anyone in the state. Our philosophy was this, you can be the best wrestler in the freakin’ world, but if you can’t breathe in the last period, we can beat you. We leveraged that a lot. As a coach I was notorious in doing my home work scouting and studying the other teams. I would often juggle my line up to ensure that my kids, our team would be able to maximize our advantages, resulting in victory. This meant that sometimes my 112lber would wrestle 119 if it would benefit the team.Posted by Picasa
