Chapter 3: Meanie Greenie
So for a couple of years now I have flirted with the idea of doing a solo enduro race. I admit my forte is team endurance racing, I know that routine, drill it, get back, eat rest, drill it again. But I admit it, I’ve always been intimidated by the thought of a 6 hour race.
Saturday was time to face my fears.

I started second row, and the Hedgehog (Rob Lictenwaler,) Nate, and Jordan took off pretty fast, I was a little nervous and I’m really bad a pacing myself, so I was nervous when I took off into fourth place. I admit I didn’t want to get caught in the beginner traffic behind us, but I also didn’t want to go too hard, too fast. I kept hearing the words of Amazin’ Andrew in my head, “keep eating, keep the fluids coming in” I followed those words. Laps 1 and 2 rolled off pretty flawlessly I tried to ride consistently, not red line anything, and just keep moving. I got a thorn somewhere on the second lap, but the Stans sealed it up, just had to stop quickly and pump up the tire pressure.
