Rotation Four-
Dan, Rick, and Buddy drive it home. We had it pretty much wrapped up at this point but were still driving hard, trying to make sure Lauri got that 4th lap in. 19 laps would have guaranteed us a top 3 overall. The race ended in an incredibly exciting fashion, as Buddy charged up the final climb bolstered by large crowd screaming and cheering as he raced for the finish line, only to come up 20 seconds shy of getting Lauri, who was dressed and ready to go, even though she didn't want out for another lap. We finished with 18 laps (4th best overall). Buddy, exhausted, turned his fastest lap of the race, on that final lap. He said it was incredible to bury himself on that last climb as the crowd cheered and ran with him, and pushed him on. I had goose bumps watching it. I can only imagine how cool it was to be riding in that crowd...
