a mighty wind blew. so mighty that it threw my glass topped table up into the air, and fired a chair up and over the railing of my deck and into my yard. The chair instantly destroyed as it impacted with the ground. The glass top table landed like a meteor crashing into the moon and shattered into 100,000 little pieces. It blew all over the deck and all over the back yard. Now, I had a meeting last night, and so Diane set forth cleaning up the deck, but alas the yard was still covered in glass. So when I got home at 8:00, I set forth to do my duty to clean the yard. Armed with my super dooper cycling lighting system, of coursed attached to a bike helmet, and a shop vac in hand, I started vacuuming the back yard. That's right, using the lighting system that County Game Warden Erica Oligher no longer wants me to use after dark in the Middlerun trail system, I vacuumed the shattered glass from the lawn in my back yard. At about 1/4 after 9:00, Diane yelled out to me. "hon!? it might be getting a little late to being vacuuming the yard on a school night..." To which I replied, "yup" as I turned stoically and headed back into the house, my helmet adorned light blazing the path back to my house, and my trusty mini shop vac in hand. And I wonder why the neighbors call us the weird biking people?
Today I was a lazy fuck. I planned to ride at lunch, but after the snow, I determined that my jersey adn shorts wouldn't be coverage enough for the ride. Planned to ride tonight, but went for a half priced plate of nachos instead. I am soft. Work is gonna be killer the next 2 days. Not sure if I an steal an hour or so anytime in the next 48 hours. Just how i like to go into my first race of the season. I guess 4 hours of trying to hold Buddy the leg breaker's wheel will give my legs plenty of time to open up the legs...
I have to admit I'm looking forward to the race, all kidding aside, I have worked hard this spring. My weight is good, I'm riding well. Not form yet, but good fitneses, if you know what I mean. Most of all, I'm stoked to be teamed with Buddy. We have both been playing this bullshit game of "I hope you don't drop me", but really we know that won't happen. We both work too hard, we have too much respect for each other. Buddy makes me a better rider. Some of my proudest moment on the bike have been on teams with Buddy. Really all of my teammates make me a better rider. From Elk to Fitzy, Matt, Todd, Paul, Andrew and Buddy. Buddy and I have had success before, and although he is a more powerful rider than I am, our styles do compliment each other. We're gonna have a lot of fun. He is a tough dude, and is the kind of guy you want there when things get ugly. Like a bar fight or a hard bike race. This weekend will be rad. Not sure were we'll end up, but we'll have fun, and leave it all out there for sure.

I'm happy to see that the lighting system is being put to good use since riding with it isn't an option. I too found a great use for my light since I have been out of commission. The other week I changed the oil in my Suby at 10:30 at night while wearing a Giro Atmos helmet with a $400.00 light attatched to it. The unfortunate thing about the helmet mount lights are that you have to wear a helmet around the house when the power goes out. Good luck this weekend.
