In the end, it worked out okay. Howard Brown from Newark Bike Line, set me up with some extra long Thule bolts for the rack. Which thank got didn't strip out the female part of the equation in my truck. As for the bike, well times are tough my friends. My FIL had given me an old road bike last fall, I used the groupo to build up my second cross bike, but the frame and fork hung in the basement. Not anymore! Because a carbon fork costs way more than a new chain, and some cable and housing! Slick Rick at Henry's hooked me up good, and helped me get the bike up and running fast. The bike is heavier than my c-dale, it has all the same parts, and the quill stem totally rocks, but you know what, it works, I'm not so much the road racer anyway. The destroyed tray, well that's destroyed. Like Meatloaf says, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. The real pisser of this is that before they put the safety pole in, I had driven through the drive through at this very mcdonald's with a bike on my car. Damn, it's hard out there for a pimp.

WTF is a safety pole, and why is it safe if it breaks things?
Talk to the management company of the MCD. Typically they have a sign posted somewhere in the store close to the cash registers.
Dude, that's an original M2 frame. That's hot!
Sorry to hear you too lost your C'dale...
Oh sweet fattie-boy!
I too have lost a precious road bike to a McDonalds in PA. Of course all my friends said, "serves you right for eating in McDonalds." They can bite me. I needed that Coke and fries!
To make it worse, my bike made it safely through the saftey bar--I hit it on the mis-measured overhang at the window. I called the franchise owner, and that went nowhere. . .it wasn't worth the energy ya know?
So the road bike is ti now, not steel, maybe that'll hold up better through the drive-thru. . .

At least you still have the ability to crack my shit up through all your despair.
F*ck! I hate hearing these stories! Having my bikes on top my E. I worry about hitting shit constantly. Glad it kinda, sorta worked out. Later. JM
You should just run one of your bike wheels over now. Get it out of the way. Lost at race, destroyed bike on roof rack, next logical thing is to run over your wheel. That will be your three strikes for the year and you will still have 7 months left. Not too bad. You'll be dummy proof for the rest of the year.

i skipped a wednesday night race one evening last year. On the way home in my Element with the Mountain Cycle on top, i decided i wanted to stop by the mall. Everyone one just watched me pull into that parking garage, bike came out ok, destroyed the tray much like yours and a nice cut in top of the rear door from the chainring. Interesting part is, thats the only damage. I feel your pain, but somehow i want fries and a coke now.
