Aging Hipsters Instagram

He's ok if he's not the fastest on the block, but that doesn't lead him to treat cycling like an adult kickball league as so many do. Cycling is important. It's ok to train for it. It's ok to want to be faster, because that's actually more fun than sucking completely. At the same time, being fast doesn't make you better than anyone else, and he knows that, too.

Layla

There are two dogs that live across the street from us: Lola and Chino.

Our oldest dog,  Layla doesn't listen so well, and as such she rarely gets to run around up front too much. She never gets to go across the street.
eyes on the prize.

Layla often lays in the front bedroom of the house and watches over the neighborhood. We've had Layla for almost 8 years. For almost 8 years Layla has watched Lola and Chino across the street. She'll bark at them from time to time, but mostly she just watches them.
watching and waiting...

Today, Layla took a flyer on me. Perhaps inspired by her recent escape thanks to the Shagrin Gas folks, but I digress. Layla took a flyer on me, and ran across the street. For the first time in 8 years she actually met Lola and Chino.
I'm still watching...

She bitched out. Ran over to them and started barking, and jumping on them, nipping their asses. She was giving them a shit sandwich with no cheese. The what for and some... Totally freaking out on them... Lola and Chino were just chilling, and in 10 seconds, Layla was kinda looking around expecting to get her ass kicked, but kinda realizing, the entire exchange was over. She started walking over to me. Lola and Chino stood their post tails wagging as Layla walked over to me.  It was actually hilarious and totally surprising. I guess after 8 years...

It was like she waited 8 years to run over there and let those dogs know. I can kinda imagine what was going through her head, "8 years you motherfuckers. 8 years you have been sitting over there taunting me, and today, today finally you are going to feel my wrath bitches..."
that's right, who's my bitches.. you are my bitches...

I walked across the street, and escorted her home. As she waited at the garage door she wagged her tail, obviously pleased with herself. She looked happily at me as I let her back in the house." She laid down on the floor sighed a sigh of satisfaction. I guess 8 years was worth the wait...

Needless to say, Layla has done nothing to earn any more out front time...

Been doing some rock climbing again this winter.. PRG is a pretty awesome and amazing place.

One of Mr. Vanderbacon's New Year's resolutions was to give his blog readers a font induced migraine. Mission accomplished fine sir! I care.

Also, Kat and I climb at PRG twice a week (Mon. and Fri). Its like 2 miles from our house.
