That’s what the T-shirt at the Radisson in Salt Lake had blazon on the front of it. Spent the last 7 days in SLC for the Outdoor Retailer Show. Basically a huge toy store of camping, kayaks, outdoor stuff. It was a good trip. I am glad to be home. Did some nice hiking in park city, and ate a lot of good food. Very good trip. Here are some notes and quick thoughts from my trip:
Met some really cool folks from Zoot Sports. This is a tri/duo company that specializes in clothing; they are out of Southern California. They were very nice to me through out the show, and had a chance to hang with them a few times. Tom, Gerard, Wendy and I think Alison. They had good beer at there both, which in SLC is a premium. Gerard did a wet suit demo in the big pool in the center of the show. Walking back to their booth he passed our booth. Charlotte, a great young woman, notices Gerard and says, “dude, I thought I was cold…” I don’t think it was meant to be a shrinkage joke, but it turned out to be. Everyone laughed there asses off. Gerard was really cool. Check out their stuff at :

Tried to rent a bike at the local shop, but of course they were all rented out. I was kind of screwed. Then this homeless dude with a Specialized bike rolled up to me and asked me for some money. I almost offered to rent his bike for a couple of days, but decided the better of it. Better to have a home and no bike, than a bike than no home I guess…
At trade shows you bust your ass all day, and by the end of the day, there really isn’t time or energy to do much else. I made a point of riding the life cycle for 40 minutes or so each day. That kinda sucks, but begs a question. Do I get any benefit of altitude training riding a life cycle in a hotel gym? I wonder…
Iron Hill was last weekend. For the first time since 1991 I will not race at Iron Hill this year. I was a little sad about that. I heard Topher won, Nick was second and Todd the Maestro was 3rd. congrats to all. Topher has really been riding great lately.
Read a quote in bike mag today. “always look out for the older, local, one speed guys… they’ll kill ya” Todd immediately sprung into my mind.
So sorry for the lack of updates, I really had no viable internet options and was stoked I could even check my email. Hope to make Tuesday Night Titans cause you know it’s a good idea to try to kill yourself when you haven’t ridden in a while. SS worlds are this weekend, I am totally stoked. Consistent updates will be forth coming, no more week off gaps, I promise…
