Wicked Fast Single Speed Beard... I swear Topher's facial hair gives him mystical cycling powers.

You know I admire guys that grow big bushy beards. I wish I could grow such a beard. Look I have the ability to grow it, hell I'll probably have to shave my face before I get home tonight. But I'm not sure I have the patience to grow a beard. Last fall I took a good stab at it, but after 2 weeks, it was so itchy, I just bailed out on it. Commitment That's what I need to have, a commitment to a beard. Just last night, I went to bed thinking, I'm growing a beard, it's gonna happen. And alas, I woke this morning a little itchy, and damn, I shaved it, right off. That's it, I'm not shaving until after my first race. 2 weeks until my first race. Can I make it? Am I committed? How bad do I want this? No Shaving for me...

Good riding today. Showed up for the Tuesday Night Titans and expected to take a beating, but the group was small and as friendly as it gets for the Tuesday Night Titans. Todd the Destroyer, Single Speed Dan, and I rocked out over at the White Clay trail system. It was a good ride, and I continue to feel better on the bike. Todd kept us honest on the climbs, setting a consistent pace, but on the downhills he was full on crushing. Todd bragged about the smoothness of his Phil Wood Hubs, but frankly I was more impressed with the water like quality Todd had while cruising down the hills. Climbing I would creep up on his side, or buzz his back tire, I'm real good for that. It's those damn big 29er wheels, hard to control don't you know. Todd only has one gear, one way to ride, fast. Really fast. In this area everyone measures their fitness based on Todd. It's like a standard measurement, or something. "I'm about ½ a Todd away from being fit," or " I'm riding a Todd above right now, I'm riding really well right now." Like I said, Todd is the stick for which everyone around these parts measures themselves. We had a fun group talked a lot of smack, and rode fast. Single Speed Dan was on me all night like a bad suit I laughed as I heard him say, "I have a tough time climbing my fs anymore.."

That's right young skywalker, feel the power of the darkside. Join us and we'll rule the universe.

Anyway, today was a good day.
