awful picture of Amy, I tried to lighten it, and make her more visible. my camera sucks.
Through Chesapeake City Mark wandered left, as if out of respect, to offer me an opportunity to take a pull. I thought for a second and the voice of Marcellus Wallace came to mind:
"The night of the ride, you may feel a slight sting; you may want to take a pull at the front. That's pride fucking with you. Fuck pride. Pride only hurts, it never helps."
I slipped back behind Mark.
As we turned the corner and headed for home, my heart almost stopped as Mark announced "pick it up we're gonna get the light" as we raced for the route 896 light. I was tired, there was not too much left to pick up. Luckily a small increase in speed got us through the intersection safely and smoothly.
As the ride came to a close I thanked both Mark and Amy for allowing me to ride. I apologized to Amy for not being a steady wheel. I never felt like I got comfortable back there, and never felt like I was a good wheel to even draft off of, I was too focused on the abyss of darkness surrounding me. Like I said before I was kinda freaked out. Anyway it was a great ride, and I look forward to making it again next week.
