Amazing how Fish Eye makes a bad Picture look semi-cool...
We rolled out of my place and entered the park at Gallagher. We rolled through 5 bridges. The trails were not touched by man kind since the snow fall, but the deer, rabbits, and fox had made good use of the trails. Slick Rick had suggested that I do some power work during my base phase, and I think today qualified. We plowed our way through south bridge and then south park. As Maestro I made the executive decision that Kenny's revenge may be too brutal, and thus we skipped it. About an 1:10 into the ride we experienced a bear market (a down trending market), as my back felt a little balled up. The concerned me a little, and was directly related to the power needed to move through the snow. I adjusted the ride route accordingly, and our new investment plan helped the market become bullish again (up trending market). We traversed the fire roads of Fairhill, which demanded far less power and allowed us to carry more momentum.
As we climbed towards the top of the park, near the fairgrounds, Single Speed Dan came up upon the cursed for Single Speed Dan bridge. As our group crested the peak of the bridge, he sheared off the final of 4 chain ring bolts and with a poignant ping, proceeded to shoot his front chain ring off. (see bikesandbeer blog to the right for a great picture). I laughed, as this bridge was the exact place where on a ride with Andrew and I last summer, His chain imploded. Single Speed Dan will forever approach this bridge with hesitation and fear. He better hope they don't finish the Fairhill race at the fairgrounds again!
