Women’s Duo
Amy and Diane had developed a plan Friday night with the help of Lisa Vible. They were very thankful for her input. Both rode incredibly well, both went through multiple set up brake pads. The joke of the day was that Diane was the Rain Goddess, because every time she would go on course the sky would just open up and pour. Amy and Diane battled back and fourth against their strong field. In the end, the leaders squeaked out another lap as Amy and Diane took and excellent 2nd place. Amy rode super strong, and said she was only passed by me the entire race. I told her she did a great job “cowboying up!” Diane squeaked out and rode a great final lap, making her 5 lap. Amy said, “ I could have gone for another but then I would have 7 and she’d have 4, Diane’s not gonna be happy with that, now I have 6 and she has 5, that’s better.” Both were super stoked. I was super proud of Diane, who decided to take this on just 5 weeks ago when she was laid off. She worked so hard. I was really happy for her. I was also super impressed with Amy. She really helped Diane a lot during this process, and her supportiveness and just good will meant a lot to Diane and to me. Amy is a queen. Perhaps the best story of the day, is that Amy was the only racer to finish with her number on her bike and she won $50 clams for doing it. That was cool too.
