LWebb wanted to try a 29er, so we lent her my front wheel. Only took her a little while to figure this out...
Wrenching with Keith:
I suck as a mechanic. I can roughly bolt things together, but if it has to deal with touch, then forget it. Anyway, Friday we were all making little adjustments to our bikes. Keith would walk around; look over our shoulders, offer tips, and support. Which for anyone confident in their wrenching is great, but for me was a total nightmare. As I tightened my chain on Greenie Meanie, too tight I might add, Keith spins my crank, "you may want to check your bottom bracket it feel like the bearing are being crushed, just loosen this bolt here, then pull this" Despite my nervousness, I knew the chain was too tight, and I loosened it, thus taking the pressure off the bb. All the time Keith is looking over my shoulder, and I'm just steady sweating. He smiles, and says , "good job!" We had three stands set up, like a professor in a lab, Keith walked around and made sure everyone was set up and working well. One of the most prolific engineers; pioneers in mountianbike history looking at me, perhaps the worst wrench in the world, tightening my chain. Something is just wrong with this picture.
