Layla

There are two dogs that live across the street from us: Lola and Chino.

Our oldest dog,  Layla doesn't listen so well, and as such she rarely gets to run around up front too much. She never gets to go across the street.
eyes on the prize.

Layla often lays in the front bedroom of the house and watches over the neighborhood. We've had Layla for almost 8 years. For almost 8 years Layla has watched Lola and Chino across the street. She'll bark at them from time to time, but mostly she just watches them.
watching and waiting...

Today, Layla took a flyer on me. Perhaps inspired by her recent escape thanks to the Shagrin Gas folks, but I digress. Layla took a flyer on me, and ran across the street. For the first time in 8 years she actually met Lola and Chino.
I'm still watching...

She bitched out. Ran over to them and started barking, and jumping on them, nipping their asses. She was giving them a shit sandwich with no cheese. The what for and some... Totally freaking out on them... Lola and Chino were just chilling, and in 10 seconds, Layla was kinda looking around expecting to get her ass kicked, but kinda realizing, the entire exchange was over. She started walking over to me. Lola and Chino stood their post tails wagging as Layla walked over to me.  It was actually hilarious and totally surprising. I guess after 8 years...

It was like she waited 8 years to run over there and let those dogs know. I can kinda imagine what was going through her head, "8 years you motherfuckers. 8 years you have been sitting over there taunting me, and today, today finally you are going to feel my wrath bitches..."
that's right, who's my bitches.. you are my bitches...

I walked across the street, and escorted her home. As she waited at the garage door she wagged her tail, obviously pleased with herself. She looked happily at me as I let her back in the house." She laid down on the floor sighed a sigh of satisfaction. I guess 8 years was worth the wait...

Needless to say, Layla has done nothing to earn any more out front time...

Been doing some rock climbing again this winter.. PRG is a pretty awesome and amazing place.

went on a bike ride the other day...

it was rad...

Schagrin Gas in Maryland came to the house yesterday to fill the tank. They open the gate in the back yard and filled the tank. They left the gate open. I get home from work and let the dogs out. They take off. I didn't know they took off until Diane came home and saw them gallivanting down the street in the neighbors front yard. Suffice to say we were relieved to round up the boys so quickly, but equally angry at the carelessness off the delivery dude. We live off of a pretty busy road. Our dogs aren't that bright. It could have been really bad. Hug your dog.

best road ride ever

I think I had the best road ride ever today.

We had pretty amazing group. Everyone close in ability, but spot on in like mindedness about the ride. Dennisbike, Jake, Benny da Jewlar, Kid Chris, a very legal E-town, Sanford, Connair and I.

I hate to use the word synergy, but fuck, the group had synergy. We had flow, we had MOJO.  It was amazing. No one surging, or sitting in and attacking on the hills. No one throwing down a Lance Armstrong Look Back. A mutual level of respect, and work ethic- teammates and friends out riding hard, working together...
damn dirty crossers...

We weren't a paceline, but everyone went to the front.
No attacked the hills, but anger was applied to the pedals...
we were pushing each other, having a hard ride, but all the time, working the group...

The group had amazing flow, and we all worked hard, and I finished up a broken man, but stoked with how awesome the ride was....

damn that was fun...

I'm hoping this ride continues to develops into a nice weekly thing...

that was rad...

monkey is so damn G.

A message flew through the local community about night riding and that there had been some complaints recently. The note followed up saying there may be additional police patrols as a result of the complaints. In our area, the parks are all 8am to dusk. Night riding in the state parks, which are patrolled is a big no no, the county parks are less monitored and so well... Anyway, aside from a group of riders (which I have been on) stumbling upon a county officer enjoying his coffee and donut in a county park lot, or trail head, well again you can see where I'm going...

but I digress.

I get a call from Monk today.

"where do you want to ride tonight?" she says.
"I don't care, what are you thinking? I respond, thinking we were going to ride one of the local county parks.

Monkey continues, "I hear the heat is on. We might want to ride around town tonight, stay out of the woods you know until things cool off a bit."

hmm. I wasn't aware my wife had become Bugsy Malone, but if the heat was on, maybe I should listen to her...

I said, "I'll trust your judgment on this one, an urban ride it will be, don't want to get caught by the heat, I certainty don't want to go to jail in a care bear skin suit."

monkey is so damn g.

Neil Patrick Harris Experience

Haven't ridden a bike in 10 days.

Not super motivated yet. 2012 will be a different year for me.

I know one thing, come Mid April, I'll be at the Baker's Dozen.
I'll be part if the Experience. The Neil Patrick Harris Experience.
How could you tell this guy no? Hopefully this guy will round out the group...

will be a fun day. Will have to start riding bikes soon...
