Adam Craig...

Tree Farm Kill 'em today...

I think I finished around 30th. I didn't post our results and frankly 2 days later what they are saying are the results are really incorrect. Frankly, that's a little disappointing. I guess the electronic ankle band thingy I wore wasn't up to par? Had a good start, but never really figured out the mud bog, and it jammed me up. I should have attacked there, maybe stirred up the others, and then taken them in the technical stuff? Frankly, I was disappointed at my fade, but worst of all I pride myself in finishing strongly and I totally screwed the pooch here. And insult to injury, I guess I pinched somebody off in a corner during the race, and he came back to give me a piece of his mind. Fuck you, Fuck you very much.

This was a little ridiculous...

The race itself was very cool. Venue was cool, 738 racers was cool. As much of a festival feeling that you get at home in the east, it was even more so here. They seemed to have more classes, which were all about 70 riders or so, more people racing. The had a beginner class, below the c class were tons of guys were on FS bikes, or just mountain bikes. We don't see that too much around here. The SINGLE SPEED CLASS had 68 riders as did the B's. This was some good racing. Registration as chaotic, which surprised me. Venue and racing wise these guys were on it. I admit, I am surprised at the lack of results and the chaos at registration. But I guess this is all part of the fun. Hats off to the promoters.

bad picture, but it was great to see Michael and Jessica again...
I ride for the greatest folks ever.

Overall the weekend was great. Jessica and Michael from SPOT BRAND came down to work pit for me, and even brought me a back up bike to use should I need it. They were super cool. I'm the luckiest some dude in the world to get to ride for them. Saturday Night we headed out with a couple of there friend so to a really good Mexican place call Dingos. The waitresses were all rock and roll. It was bad hair band metal night, and the play list included, motley crew, la guns, lita ford, and poison. We had a little name that tune game going on. Surprisingly, Michael knew his hair bands quite well. Hmmmm...

Timmy Johnson's Arse... I saw him hit the deck at the end of his race...

Guilty pleasure. On the final lap of the pro race, it started to rain (it's Portland!). The pros had all been banking off of the track. Well now they hit the track, and slide insanely out of control and crashed. It started with Timmy Johnson, and then probably 4 other guys all stacked it coming out of the infield. The entire crowd would groan loudly as they hit the deck. Okay, it's bad Karma, and everyone was shouting to them, "stay off the track" but it was just a little fun to watch all these guys stack it. Kinda like a train wreck. Luckily, no one pros were injured in the running of this race.

Boris the Spider; Cross Alive in Northern Delaware...

Why there were no looters in Texas.

I don't like creepy things. You know spiders, bugs, snakes, none of those nasty bastards. Yuk. Now look, I'm not the kind of guy who just kills any of the slimy, creepy, scary stuff that I don't like. I understand that in nature we all play a part. My part is usually running away from the slimy, creepy scary stuff as fast as I can.

FortJames- (picture stolen from jabrewer)

But I digress, this morning as I came out to my toaster I saw that during the night, some industrious spider had crafted himself a huge, wonderful spider web. The web was spun from the ground, up the side of my toaster, and to the front stoop. It really was beautiful. I am also quite certain it could have snagged one of the little kids in my neighborhood.

dan the man was laying the smack down tonight...

So I figured I just drive away and that would be the end of it. So after my run this morning I pull up to the intersection of 896 and state road. I stop at the crossing, waiting my turn to go. I look at my side mirror window and what do I see? That's right a huge 8 legged freak. Seriously this spider was the diameter of like a half dollar coin or maybe a mayonnaise jar lid. He had his big ole hairy legs all stretched out. He looked at me as if to say, "dude, I'm gonna eat you" I quickly grabbed my cycling shoe and went to flick him off. I hesitated for a second. "Is this big enough?" "can he still get to me" I gathered up all my courage and flung him off my mirror and on to the road. I watched to see where he landed, hoping he wouldn't jump back at me. He landed right on the yellow line. I look up, it's my turn to leave the stop sign. I floored it. 0-60 in 10 seconds. The toaster flys. yuk.

Dave. Fast. formerly from DE. Good at cross , very good single speeder.

Today was pretty awesome. Work was hard, but I like it like that. Got up had a good run. (yeah I recognize that good and run are usually two words that never go together, but it happened) Cross Practice was huge tonight, probably 20 riders or so. It's been years since I can remember practice being this big again. Frickin' awesome. I won't try to hit everyone who was there, but it sure looked from my vantage point that everyone had a group to ride in and to battle with. Beautiful. I think everyone had fun. What more can you ask for. Okay, well a taco bar would be nice, but for practice it went really well. We threw an effort out tonight as many folks will have a double this weekend. Me I threw out yesterday, because I was so damn tired. I went up stairs read my book for an hour and crashed out.

Kurtee's Evil Twin? Kurt vs. This Guy Arm Wrestling to the death...
Kurtee may no longer have the biggest boobs in the pelotone...

No real crashes tonight, and I was much less of a bastard than last week. Mike K slid out once, but I had nothing to do with it. He hopped up quickly and rocked on. I was a little disappointed in one aspect of my ride. Generally speaking my technique is bad. I have worked really hard to make it better. Tonight during one of the intervals Mike K and I came crashing into the barriers together, this was the prime time were my technique had to be SPOT on, and I blew it. Luckily Mike kinda blew it too, and on pure rage and momentum, I slipped by him. Still I can do better. Otherwise, I was pleased with how I rode, Tom dropped on me, "I was close you tonight, you must be having a bad night." Yeah great, I suck. Lots of fast dudes tonight, looking forward to Jeff and Matt (run forrest) coming back next week and adding the level of sickness.
