Way back when I was skateboarding, there was this rule that developed. No one ever says, "one more run", "last trick" or anything indicating that the next pass would be the last. Inevitably, this resulted in who ever was taking the last pass to eat shit. It worked like clock work.
Last night, as I met a few friends to ride my bike around in circles in a field, someone said, last time around.
Not two minutes later, there was a pile of dudes in lycra laying on the ground.
Luckily no one was hurt seriously, and we could all laugh about it a few minutes later.
I propose that we adopt the "no one says last run" rule, when riding bikes around in fields.
thanks for reading.

Someone once asked at our practice if we just rode till we couldn't see the flags. My response was "we usually do one more after that".
Same thing always happened to us back in the motocoss days. Always "one more lap" and I'll be done. You end up with a busted up bike, cuts and bruises and hopefully no broken bones. Every time!
We have the same rule in skiing, the last time someone said it I hit my man parts on a rail.... needless to say, no one has said it since.
That rule is in bmx too. I am superstitious about it still.
Okay. That's the last time you'll give us that advice. Right?
Truth. It's never the last run.
years ago I spend a good deal of time snowboarding...
and yes
I always stopped right before that "one last run"
